Wabamun Provincial Park

The Wabamun Watershed Management Council (WWMC) is comprised of representatives from a cross-section of sectors that reflects the diversity of stakeholders active in the watershed. The Council is therefore able to provide a coordinated approach to watershed management, sharing information with the larger group and with their own sectors.
Watershed Resident

Summer Village I – Kelly Aldridge: President - alternate: Doug Thomas (SV of Seba Beach)

  • Kelly has been a summer resident in the Summer Village of Seba Beach since 1951. He is retired from a career of computer systems, accounting and auditing with the Auditor General of Alberta.

Summer Village II - George Jones (SV of Kapasiwin)

  • George is the Administrator for the Summer Village of Kapasiwin
County Resident I - Verne Schneider: Past-President (Moonlight Bay)
  • Verne is a year-round resident of Moonlight Bay. He has had 25 years of senior and executive management experience in both government and private industry. He has served on numerous advisory boards and committees over the past 20 years.

County Resident II - Jack Latham (Whitewood Sands)

  • Description to be posted
Government

Provincial - Tom Slater

  • Tom is the Manager of the Regional Environmental Management section of Alberta Environment – Central Region. This section is responsible for watershed planning by Alberta Environment in the North Saskatchewan Basin that includes Wabamun Lake.
Federal – Margaret Fairbairn
  • Description to be posted.
County – Tracey Melnyk: Secretary
  • Tracey is a Parkland County Councillor whose area includes Wabamun Lake.
Village of Wababmun - Currently represented by Larry Burton
  • Larry is a Councillor with the Village of Wabamun.
First Nation/Metis - Vacant
Non-Government Organization

Water Sports – Phil Sutton: Vice-president (alternate: Bob Schimmel)

  • Phil is a third generation Edmonton area resident who for 15 years has sailed on Wabamun and other area lakes. He represents the boating community on the lake and is a long-term volunteer.
Camps – Hugh King
  • Hugh represents the Northern Lights Region Scouts Canada and is a resident of the Hamlet of Fallis. He is a long time sailing instructor at Ernest Poole Scout Camp and a sail boat owner.

Environmental I – Don Meredith: Treasurer (alternate: Greg Kulak)

  • Don represents the Stony Plain Fish and Game Association. He is a writer and biologist who has lived near the lake for the past 30 years and has spent many a pleasant day on its water and ice.

Industry/Business I – Don Cameron (alternate: Colin Regan)
  • Don represents recreational users of the lake and the Wabamun Marina as part of the business sector at the lake. He is a retired, long-time user of Lake Wabamun and involved with the Marina since its conception.
