WWMC Watershed Cafe Launch
Facing the Dragon: Building Community Resilience to Climate Change in the Wabamun Lake Region
Wednesday, July 8 | 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
Location: Wabamun Sailing Club, #3-53025 RR 43, Parkland County
Please join us for our first Watershed Cafe. The event is a welcoming speaker series that brings our watershed community together for meaningful conversations about Wabamun Lake. Each gathering features a short, engaging presentation followed by open discussion, creating space to learn, ask questions, share perspectives and explore how we can all help support the health of the lake we love.
On July 8, we welcome Dr. Debra Davidson as our inaugural speaker. Dr. Davidson is a nationally recognized scholar whose work focuses on climate change impacts, adaptation, energy transitions, and the social dimensions of environmental change. Her presentation explores how climate change is already affecting the Canadian prairies through shifting temperatures, precipitation patterns, and more frequent extreme weather events. It will also discuss how small communities, including those in the Wabamun Lake region, can prepare and build resilience with support from organizations like the WWMC.
Bring your questions and ideas. No RSVP required. We look forward to seeing you there.
