Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Wabamun Watershed Management Council (WWMC). WWMC membership is open to all Albertans — individuals, as well as organizations operating in Alberta, including municipalities, non-profits, companies, and corporations.

There are two types of WWMC Membership. Both are free to join.

1. Individual/General Membership: Any resident of Alberta is eligible to become a General Member of the WWMC

2. Organization/Corporate Membership: A company or organization that agrees to partner with the WWMC in achieving the Council's goals may become a Corporate Member. Corporate Members represent a wide array of organizations, including (but not limited to) municipalities, stewardship groups, universities and research groups, non-profit organizations, Indigenous Nations, and businesses (large and small) from a range of sectors. One voting member will be identified by the organization (although individuals from the organization may also become general members). 

WWMC reserves the right to assess that memberships are in alignment with the Council's goals.

Membership FAQs

WWMC members will receive, via email:

  • Lakescape, our quarterly newsletter.

  • Advance notice of events.

  • Timely updates about what is happening on the lake, in the watershed, and with WWMC.

Additionally, members are eligible to:

  • Attend WWMC meetings and events.

  • Vote at the WWMC Annual General Meeting in October, and at Special Meetings.

  • Run for a position on the Board of Directors.

How does membership make a difference?

WWMC members make a difference by:

  • Learning lake and watershed stewardship best practices, which helps ensure the sustainable health of Wabamun Lake and its watershed.

  • Helping the WWMC understand lake and watershed issues.

  • Contributing new ideas for initiatives and projects, strategy, education and policy direction.  

  • Donating time, talent, and money to grow the organization.  

  • Sharing information about the lake and watershed with their community and other stakeholders. 

  • Playing an important role in educating others about the watershed and actions they can take to protect and sustain its health.

  • Working with the WWMC on projects to sustain the lake watershed.

How much does a membership cost?

There is no fee to become a member.

Donations are always welcomed from individuals and organizations. Charitable tax receipts are provided for individuals. Organization/Corporate Members who become Corporate Partners will receive recognition based on donation level; please contact info@wwmc.ca for details.

How long does a membership last?  

Membership automatically renews annually (or at the discretion of the WWMC Board of Directors).

Organization/Corporate Members should identify their voting member each year by sending their information to info@wwmc.ca
